It with regret that as of the 31st January the Women on Wheels initiative will cease, and the website and associated Twitter account will close down. The Facebook group will continue to operate with the WOW Eye event organiser taking on the administrator rights. The group will be renamed after the 31st January. Information on local rides and opportunities to support more women and girls to cycle will continue to be posted on the group.

It is disappointing that WOW has come to an end, but we would like to thank everyone who has participated, volunteered, and supported the events over the past 8 years, which has helped to inspire and support more women and girls to enjoy the freedom and exercise that cycling can provide.

Keep cycling

Women On Wheels events are mass participation female-only bike rides, that put a strong focus on the fun, friendly and inclusive aspects of cycling, usually raising money for a local charity.

They are aimed at non-cyclists and existing cyclists alike, with routes of an achievable distance, and are open to all ages.

Despite our best efforts it has not been possible to host the Bury and Sudbury WOW events this year and due to low numbers the Rushmere event had to be cancelled. We hope to bring back a full programme of WOW events in 2023 and we will be providing more details on the locations and dates in the New Year.

We would encourage you to follow us on Twitter (@WoWSuffolk) and Facebook (@wowsuffolk) to get regular updates on the 2023 events as they are announced and get handy tips and advice on opportunities for cycling in your area.
